Jowhar has more biogas potential than any other district in Somalia. Farmers are well-organized in cooperatives, and therefore JikoBiogas has signed a joint agreement with them for the construction of biogas plants for electricity generation and fertilizer.
The first plant for the joint venture between JikoBiogas and Bula Sheikh FarmersCooperative and have been in operation since March 2019 to produce 65MWh of electricity annually with 2000 tons of organic fertilizer.
